Creating a successful website

I'm currently reading Marshall Brain's WebKew blog. He has a wealth of ideas on creating successful websites and hopefully earning some income from them. It would be a smart idea to diversify my income and add to the money I get from consulting.

Mostly food for thought at the moment. At this stage I'm just putting some google ads on some of my websites and that generates a trickle of dollars. Probably enough to pay for my soda consumption every month but that's about it. But once I get some of my other projects farther along I will be able to get make more money from ads and affiliate programs (like Amazon, Ebay, etc.).
