High Def TV vs Regular TV

They announced that the first season of Battlestar Galactica is going to be released in high definition this December. I was wondering how much of a difference there was between standard def and high def tv programs. So I downloaded a high def episode of Stargate Atlantis - Missing. Weighs in at 1 GB file size vs 350 MB for the standard def version. Lets take a look at what this bigger file size gives us.

Here is a side by side comparison of the image quality (Our hero John Sheppard):

The image really says it all, the detail is pretty amazing. You can see John's spiky hair and Atlantis patch clearly in hi-def. Well damn it, now I'm going to have to get some of the newer shows on HD-DVD :)

Funking with my head

Started taking a oral steroid called Prednisone this week and it is really causing my brain to go a little wonky. It is the only thing that can help me when my gout gets really bad and that usually only happens once a year during the winter. But I really dread having to take it as you will soon realize.

Unfortunately it either causes some zombie moments or the other extreme is losing my temper (which I never do). But while I was standing in my kitchen yelling at spilled bottle of hot sauce, I realized that this was probably caused by this little pill I'm taking. After splashing some water on my face, I returned to clean up the spill since yelling didn't magically reverse time to a point before the spill happened. The headaches aren't helping much either. Glad I've been civil to Geddy. He usually does have a calming effect on me.

Only one more day of this and my treatment is finished. Then my hormones will return to their serene sensibilities.

Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers

As chance would have it, my friend Jen reminded me that Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers were going to be playing Nectar in Fremont. Here's few pictures from the show.

They sounded great and Roger was just a maniac, jump around and drinking shots tequila.
